In September of 2012, I was asked to do the logo for fellow aviation photographer Mike Luedey's multimedia business Yellow Drum Productions. The name was derived from a nickname for the famed North American T-6 Harvard trainers that flew in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. The Harvards wore a golden yellow scheme that stood out in the air and in the military's history.
I started out with the basic request of a Harvard head-on and went from outline to full color fill, trying out different fonts in each variation. Mike particularly liked the font that came in v6, and it was then adjusted to his liking along the graphic to produce the final product.
